Question by Hello Friend: LinkedIn Question -- People You May Know feature?
A few days ago, 3 people from the same company appeared in the "People You May Know" section on my home page in LinkedIn. They all work in the same field that I work in, and I applied for a job with this company in that very department about 2 months ago.

My question is this: Since I have not viewed the profiles of these people, and we have zero shared connections, is it possible that these folks were viewing my profile and that's why they are showing up in my "People You May Know" box?

Best answer:

Answer by responder5
If you have a doubt that they might have checked on your profile then you can easily figure out whether they have actually visited you or not.

There is an option to view "people who has viewed my profile" or with something similar text. Click on that and you will see all the members who visited your profile.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I need advice on starting a new marketing company. Do I need to know HTML?

Question by Branden S: I need advice on starting a new marketing company. Do I need to know HTML?
I am fresh out of college and I am looking to starting a marketing/advertising/pr and consulting company part time. I have the marketing knowledge, some photo shop and PR knowledge and I know the community that I hope to reach. My issue is with HTML and web design. I know that many companies are moving towards the web, but I have very limited HTML and coding skill.

Is it wiser to contract my web design work out to other companies and focus on the other intangibles or should I just suck it up and learn the coding needed? Also is it wise to seek out a marketing consultant for additional advice since I am starting a marketing company?

What I did was to buy a template website and then just edit it using Notepad; cheap, effective and very professional looking and you can produce a top class website in a couple of evenings of your spare time without buying lots of expensive software.

When you've done that and you need to look at promoting your website then Google for '5Day Traffic Makeover', again, this is a very low cost ebook with everything you need to get started cheaply.

Question by Restless: What do you know regarding Human Resource Consulting?
My undergraduate degree is in Public Relations and Business but with the economy and a full year out of college I have had some time to think. I would like to pursue a career in consulting in particular the area of Human Resources (Human Capital or Communication). I'm having a hard time finding information on how to break into this particular area of consulting. Any advice or information would be GREAT!

Try applying at a temp agency to place candidates, or as an HR assistant.

You will need at least two years of work experience to be an HR consultant.

Check the internet for a local HR Consulting firm and explain what you are doing and see if you can get an informational interview with a consultant. They will tell you how to get into the field.

Question by amb: Would it be appropriate to add someone to your LinkedIn network that you don't know well?
I've found a few people on LinkedIn that I know from a place where I've just started volunteering. Would it be appropriate to add them to my network now, or wait a couple months?

Also, I need suggestions for other professional networking sites like LinkedIn. Thanks.

Answer by Ron N
I think it would be fine to add them. People are on linkenIn to network and that is what you are doing. If they didn't want to network they probably wouldn't be on the site. As always be carefully on who you invite in because they have access to your contacts also.

www.Plaxo.com is an networking site. But I have like LinkedIn better.

How well do you need to know someone before adding them on LinkedIn?

I was at a conference a few weeks ago and met a lot of people. Is it ok to add someone on LinkedIn even if I only met them once and maybe spoke to for half an hour? Can I contact people whose presentations I have sat through but I didn't talk to long?

Best answer:

Answer by Smiling
Sure. Linked in is for building your business contacts. These are your business contacts.
Don't be upset if people don't respond. I'm not a fan of linked it, so sometimes it takes a long time for me to bother with signing in and approving people.

Question by partypooper: Does anyone know any good rehabs for teen with oppositional defiant disorder and involvement with drugs?
I'm looking for a long term in patient treatment facility for a 16 year old male. He is using drugs, defiant, has been suspended, expelled, gets in fights. He's been to counseling, arrested, we moved, switched schools. Nothing seems to help. I can Google places but I would rather hear from people who have actually experience from the rehab centers. Willing to go anywhere in the country. Any recommendations?

Does anyone know of any small business SEO companies that have brought you really good results?

SEO companies are usually a bit dodgy if you ask me, of course there are many great SEO companies, but only the large ones really. Too many "fake" companies out there, promising results they can't provide and giving you loads of false infomation.

I'm a SEO freelancer, if your still looking for somebody to do SEO work for you, let me know and we'll discuss 🙂
