Getting an MBA right after college with 9 years small business experience. Good or bad idea?

Question by Dave: Getting an MBA right after college with 9 years small business experience. Good or bad idea?
So long story short, i ran a small marketing business since i was 16, it took a hit when i was 25 so i went to school as i didn't want to deal with similar stress when i was older. at 29 i'm about to graduate from Rutgers with a pretty high GPA and i'm considering going for an MBA in marketing. Question is, is going for an MBA right from undergrad in my situation a good idea, being that people generally get their MBA after years of work experience in order to put themselves into management positions. How will my "work from home" experience count to employers after i'm done if combined with an MBA or better yet how much will the MBA boost my resume in this case?
Will i be able to attain higher than entry level positions with such experience, will it put me well above regular undergrads, etc?

Note: working full time while running what's left of my business and returning to get my masters years later is not an option i'm considering. So i'm just looking to figure out how much the MBA will actually help me and whether it's worth the investment in my case.

Also if anyone have an idea of how much running my business will matter to perspective employers when compared to applicants with perhaps less work experience in a related field but with a major company.

In your situation, I think the experience will definitely count with both programs and employers. The question is, what are you looking to do with the degree? If you're hoping to go into marketing in an entrepreneurial environment or consulting for companies similar to yours, it could help you a great deal - though the smaller the company or the firm, the less likely they are to need the degree. If you're shifting gears and doing something completely different like investment banking, it'll still help, but your classmates who'd done that kind of work before going back to school will still have an advantage. If you're planning on building a new business...well, it depends how much you think you need expert help and formal training to assess what you need to do differently this time.

How to best advertise small business – word of mouth is best, right?

Question by JAF: How to best advertise small business - word of mouth is best, right?
Any thoughts about marketing a small tour business? I have good word of mouth, but it is in a single community and I need to expand beyond that circle to grow the business. Face to face presentations are best from my experience, but difficult to be in many places at once. How about direct mailings and web advertising (Google ad words?) Any insight is appreciated!
